Goal: Design a BSF Adaptor to connect a Char-Lynn 103 series hydraulic motor to a Sumitomo Cyclo 6000 inline gear reducer.

Factors: This Sumitomo Cyclo 6000 inline gear reducer had an 182TC electric motor input, however our customer wanted to use a Char-Lynn 103 series hydraulic motor instead. Customer also needed this design to be as compact as possible.

How we did it: We engineered and designed a BSF concaved adaptor plate to emulate the 182TC mounting pattern on the Sumitomo gear reducer. We then calculated how deep we could recess the adaptor plate down inside the Sumitomo gear reducer housing so that we could utilize a Lovejoy shaft coupling to connect the Char-Lynn hydraulic motor to the Sumitomo gear reducer.
